The Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center (6NICC), which has been in operation for more than 70 years, houses over 5,000 artifacts for public viewing, and its central mission is to educate the public about the history, culture, contemporary realities and potential futures of the Haudenosaunee People. Its goals include educating the public about Haudenosaunee Land Ethic and other environmental and conservation principles, as well as serving Native Peoples by offering a place where traditional values and philosophies can be reaffirmed. In 2026, with partnership and support from The Nature Conservancy, 600 acres of land in the Adirondacks adjacent to the cultural center was returned to Haudenosaunee care. 6NICC now owns and manages the land which will become a Haudenosaunee community gathering space, house a long-standing Indigenous youth camp and provide an opportunity to expand the cultural center.
